Miss Schultz's Parent Letter

Friday, May 26th, 2006

Dear Kindergarten Families,

This week’s centers focused on review.  At the writing center students wrote in their journals about anything they chose.  I really stressed finger spaces between words, uppercase letters only in the beginning and periods at the end.  At the language center they read a poem, listened to words to figure out how many different letter sounds they heard, and they completed a variety of rhyming activities.  At the math center they made a 3D shapes book and they made a picture with pattern blocks.  At the theme art center students made a memory book.

Please remember that our fieldtrip to Moomer’s is next Wed. May 31st.  We are leaving at 8:15 and returning at the end of the school day.  You child needs a sack lunch.  Spring Sing is that evening at 7:00 p.m.  Children need to report to our classroom at 6:45.  They need to wear nice clothes and they need a stuffed animal to dance with during their song.  Also, our field day is scheduled for Thursday, June 1st.  Please join us if you can!!

Questions to ask your child this week are the following:

1)      Look around the house.  Can you find a sphere?  Rectangular prism?  Cylinder?  Cone?

2)     Can you read a story to me?

Have a wonderful holiday weekend!  It sounds like it will be sunny and warm!

Sincerely,

Miss Schultz
