Miss Schultz's Parent Letter

Thursday, January 20, 2006

Dear Kindergarten Families,

Our theme art center this week continued focusing on the world as the students completed pages about their state, country, continent and planet. I have begun to practice their address and phone number with each of them so that they can begin to memorize that important information.

At the language center students completed Ee and Ff books, Ee and Ff tongue twisters, die-cut letters E and F and a language cut-and-paste ending letters activity.

At the writing center students learned to write the letters Ee and Ff, they drew pictures of things that begin with Ee and Ff, they wrote sentences to explain their pictures and they wrote words from around the room that begin with Ee and Ff.

At the math center we played the disappearing train game to practice subtraction, we talked about the teen numbers as being 10 and another number and worked in pairs to make all the teen numbers with our fingers, and we practiced addition and subtraction with calculators.

I would like to remind you that our Good Behavior Ski Day is scheduled for Tues. Jan. 31st. Please turn in the necessary forms so we are ready to go. Anyone is welcome! It is a very fun day!

Questions to ask your child this week are the following:

  1. Can you tell me the sound that the letter Ee makes? The letter Ff?
  2. Can you tell me 3-5 words that begin with the letter Ee? The letter Ff?
  3. Can you tell me both sounds that each of the vowels make? Aa, Ee, Ii, Oo, Uu.
  4. Can you tell me name of your town? Your state?

The snow has returned WooHoo!! Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,

Miss Schultz
