Miss Schultz's Parent Letter

Thursday, February 2nd, 2006

Dear Kindergarten Families,

What a beautiful day we had for skiing on Tuesday!! Thank-you to all who came along and helped the kids throughout the day. It was such a fun day to spend together. Photos

Our letter this week was Gg so at the language center students made Gg books, completed Gg tongue twisters, completed a beginning and ending sound cut and paste and they decorated a die-cut letter G.

At the writing center students practiced writing the letter Gg, drew a picture pf something that begins with Gg, wrote a sentence to describe their picture and they practiced with sand and wikki stix.

At the math center students made a February calendar and a set of skip counting cards so we can practice and get more comfortable counting by 2’s.

At the theme art center our Mom volunteers helped the kids learn the Old Mother Hubbard Rhyme. The kids made a cupboard of words that rhyme with the words in the poem. They also wrote a new rhyme sentence and drew an illustration. Lastly, they made a special word wall containing words from the Mother Goose rhyme.

Our last holiday party is on its way. We will celebrate Valentine’s Day in the afternoon of Tuesday, Feb. 14th. Our party will start at approximately 1:45. The following people are signed up to bring in a snack: Jennifer Burgess, Jill Bronson, Lisa Morley, & Betsy Neph. Jennifer Burgess is bringing us a drink. The classroom helpers will be Jennifer Burgess, Jennifer Redman, Jill Bronson, Lisa Morley, Peggy Pepera, & Betsy Neph. Thank-you in advance ladies!!

Questions to ask your child this week are the following:

  1. Can you tell me the sound that the letter Gg makes?
  2. Can you tell me 3-5 words that begin with the letter Gg?
  3. What did you like best about our Good Behavior Ski Day?

I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend!!

Sincerely,

Miss Schultz
