Miss Schultz's Parent Letter Thursday, December 8, 2005 |
Dear
Kindergarten Families, This week of our Christmas around the world unit we have talked about Hannukah celebrated in Jerusalem. We played the dreidel game and made a menorah (candle holder). We also talked about the traditions in Holland and Germany. We wrapped a gift for our classmates and wrote clues so they could try and guess the gift. On Tuesday we received a visit from St. Nicholas, who left us a surprise in our shoes! At the language center children made Dd books, completed 2 Dd tongue twister activities and decorated a die-cut letter D. At the writing center students practiced the letter Dd, drew a picture of something that begins with the letter Dd, practiced the letter Dd with sand and wikki stix and they found Dd words from around the room to practice writing. At the math center student were introduced to calculators, they played a high roller game and used calculators to keep score. They also played a walk around the clock game to practice telling time. Please remember that I have chosen a family from the giving tree and I am collecting personal care items. They need things like soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, etc. I also have a box in my room if you would like to donate to Toys for Tots. Our holiday party will be the afternoon of Thurs. Dec. 22nd. Please remember to purchase a childrens book so your child can exchange with another child in our classroom. Our Christmas program is on Wed. Dec. 21st at 7:00. More details will be available as the date draws near. Questions to ask your child this week are the following:
