Learning About Lake Effect

Mr. Whitmore came in and talked about lake effect. He talked about weather and moisture. When he talked about moisture he was saying if the weather came from Wisconsin and is headed our way it would go over the water and pick up moisture so that if it comes to mountains it goes up to make the weather cold. It was awesome. In the winter warm breezes come from the lake and in the summer cold breezes come toward the shore. He was telling about a lot of stuff and what I said was some of it. I can't remember everything, but that was what I did remember. ...Brittany

During the month of February 1997, Mr. Whitmore, Mrs. Eldridge, and a group of fifth and sixth grade science students went to Chittenden Center. While there they began the first pages of the Onekama Web Site. The students chose to call it The Awesome Science Site. In the beginning it was all about science activities, including Lake Effect.
