Helping at the Salvation Army

December 15, 2005

Today 14 people went to the Salvation Army to bag food for the people who need it in our community. We had to bag jello, cranberries, beans, corn, salt, potatoes, and stuffing. In the end we found out we had bagged 1,000. Even though it was really tiring and my back hurt afterwards, I'm glad that I went because I got to help people. ...Claire

When we went to the Salvation Army today we packed food. First the lady showed us how to pick up things. Then we got to work. Five of us filled a room and then they told us we had to move the bags to another room. All of us were glad to do what we did. ...Brandon B.

Today I went to the Salvation Army. We hd to fill bags with cans and boxes. We had to fill 500 bags but we filled over that. We filled all the tables. I had so much fun there. We also had our picture taken. ...Meghan

We went downstairs and were acting like we owned a store or something. What we had to do was put stuff into bags such as: cranberries, jello, salt and pepper and you know, stuff like that. Today some of our class and some from the other class went to the Salvation Army. I had a lot of fun packing and putting away bags. We had a line of people to pack the bags and on the other side of the table we had people to carry the bags. It was a lot of work. We would switch every 10 minutes. When we were almost done we had lunch. I felt good after I did all my work. ...Nisha

On December fifteenth my classmates and I went to the Salvation Army. We bagged corn, mash potatoes, oranges, marironie, salt, green beans, tuna fish and salmon. It made me feel great to help others. It was hard work. ...Logan F.

Today I went to the Salvation Army Church. We packed food for the needy. First we got there and we put our coats away. Then we went down stairs. I was shocked how much food there was. There must have been over a thousand cans. So we got to work. I thought about all the people we were helping and I felt good. After we were done bagging we had to move the bags.
