Yesterday we went to a place that makes syrup. They told us how they make it. They gave us some of their maple candy leaves. When we got ready to go home they gave us some maple syrup samples to eat at home when we have pancakes. They made the syrup in their little shack. They get the sap from taping the tree. When they tap the tree they have little tubes in the tree. ...Alexis
Yesterday we went to see how to make maple syrup. The first thing they showed us was how they got sap out of the tree. To get the sap out you have to tap the tree twice and put tubs in the holes. Then you put a bucket under the tubs. Next they showed us how they put the sap in a big tank outside. They heat it at 212 degrees F. It takes two days to heat the syrup. Last they pour syrup in containers. I really enjoyed the maple candy we tried. ...Janique
Yesterday my class and I went to a syrup factory. The people who own the syrup place are named Mr. and Mrs. Sievert. They first tap the tree. Then they put a hose in the tree and put the hose in a bucket. When the bucket is full they put the shop in a big tank. That tank goes into a stainless steel tank and that's where it cooks. The tank has to be 212 degrees F. to cook the syrup. If there going to make syrup candy they have to cook it longer. Mr. Sievert gave us all a bodle of syrup. ...Jon E.

When there full he goes and gets them and dumps them in a tub and cooks them at 212 degrees. It takes 8 buckets to fill one gallon. ...Alyssan
