Third Grade Beach Sweep

At the beach sweep we picked up after others. We commonly found glass, balloons, and wrappers. My class picked up at the South Pier. We got to wade in the water. Some of us got to climb the sand dunes. We cleaned the beach for the common good. When you do something for the common good, you feel good inside. ...Meredith H.

On September 16, 2005 my class went to Arcadia, South Pier to clean the beach because the beaches were getting really dirty. We split up into groups. I was a tally marker. Then I was the garbage bag holder. Then I was the trash picker upper. We found mostly cigarette butts. Plus we found a cigarette lighter. Then we found candy wrappers, pop bottles and some glass. We had fun. I thing everyone should clean the beach or not litter. We need everyone to care about our beaches. And some people do it for the common good. ...Kayla F.

We went to Arcadia South pier for a beach sweep. It was Lake Michigan. My mom was our group chaperone. We found a few odd objects. Like a metal bar, girls underware, and a dead seagull. Duwane actually picked it up. In my group was Natasha, Jordan, Duwane, Merdith, and some other people. We had a pretty good group except for shouting. There was a lot of shouting. We did it for the environment. If we didn't do it the world would be a junk yard. ...Louise
