The Year of The Dog Begins

Each year Mrs. N and her class celebrate the Chinese New Year.  It begins with "Sweeping Out the Old to Welcome In The New."  The class cleans everything in the classroom to prepare for the new year.  Once they are ready to welcome in the new.  Students enjoys stories and centers focusing on the Chinese culture and celebration.  They are given chopsticks to eat their lunch, which is always fun to watch.

The favorite activity is to paint the dragon.  The dragon is a symbol of good luck.  It is believed that the dragon will scare the bad luck away.  The Chinese believe that whatever happens on this day will predict your new year.  If you have a good day, then you'll have a good new year.  If it is a bad day, then a bad new year. Happy Chinese New Year!
