Mrs. Eichberger's Parent Letter for
October 6, 2005

Language

Our study was focused on the four seasons and our current season, Autumn.

We practiced inventive spelling and are getting in the habit of using our classroom word resources when writing. As I mentioned in earlier newsletters, students are writing in classroom composition books. They will be viewed during parent teacher conferences. We also sang songs about autumn and the harvest, and then did an interpretive dance of a changing tree in the fall.

Social Studies (The Study of People)

Students are being introduced to the Core Democratic Values. Core democratic values are the fundamental beliefs and constitutional principles of American society which unite all Americans. In September we focused on COMMON GOOD, meaning that we should work together for the good of all. This observance of this value is essential for building community. We talked about the importance of helping others. Greg Cloutier said that we should help other people feel good about themselves!

Math

Students are using coins in the classroom and finding the values of various combinations of pennies and nickels. We also began using the +(addition) - (subtraction) and = (equal) symbols.
