Halloween Ball Monday, Oct. 31

We will begin our Halloween Ball at 1:00. Janet Berard, mother of Jarrod will be chairing our celebration. You may have received a phone call from her this week. Food and game items may be brought in with your child on Monday, or you may drop them off yourself.

The children anxiously await the big day!

Paper Mache Pumpkins

The children loved to create our paper mache pumpkins. This week we painted our pumpkins mixing red and yellow. Today we put on the faces. What fun!

Language Assessment

In preparation for the upcoming conferences, I have been assessing your child in the following language areas:

  • Writing
  • Decoding Words/Phonics
  • Comprehension (noting details and categorizing /classifying)

Math

Students have been practicing basic addition and subtraction facts by using the number line and grid as well as dominos. Next, students have taken surveys of favorite colors, characters, and charting the results on a graph. They have also been reviewing the basic concepts of telling time to the half-hour. Finally, place value concepts have been studied through use of manipulatives. This will give us a good foundation for counting and identifying numbers past 100.
