Happenings in Room 438 March 3, 2006 |
No
baby yet!! When I find out, I will let the children know,
as I am sure theyll be excited to share the news
with you. This week in class we have been discussing change, giving reminders of classroom rules, and the importance of respecting others. The children have been doing a fairly good job in this transitional week, but it wouldnt be a bad idea to ask your child how things are going and about their behavior in class. March is Reading Month On Tuesday, the elementary classes enjoyed a Pancake Breakfast to jump start March Reading Month sponsored by the PTO. The theme for the month is Michigan and our class is exploring Architecture in Michigan. We will be learning about historical buildings, structures, and tourist attractions in Manistee County. We will also look at the Capitol Building and the Mackinaw Bridge. If your family knows of someone who is an architect and would be willing to come in to speak to our class or if you have any pictures or books of the Ramsdell Theatre, Portage Point Inn, the Bottle House, and the Manistee Bridges that youd be willing to share, please let me know. |
As
incentive for reading month our class is also going to be
creating a reading chain. Our goal is to have links
that connect and go all the way around the room so we can
have a special event right before Spring Break. For
each book, magazine, comic, any piece of literature your
child reads at home they can fill out a link and bring it
in the next day to be put added to the chain. If
you need additional items to read please let me
know. Friday dress up days.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We will be taking our spelling tests on Wednesdays so they can be graded and new words distributed in Thursday folders. This weeks words will be tested on Wednesday. Use the weekend to study. Ms. Candace Turk cturk@manistee.org |
