Summer Stories Continued

Alaska Ahoy!

By Mrs. Brown’s Class

I’m going to be in sixth grade next year. It’ll be fun meeting our new teachers. I’m going to miss recess. I am going to miss my teachers Mrs. Brown, Mrs. Bennett, and Mr. Neph.  This summer I am going to Alaska. I am not looking forward to it, though, because it’s cold. I want to go there to catch some big, nice, tender, juicy fish. My favorite kinds of fish to catch are walleye, pike, lake trout, and, of course, BASS!! I want to catch a seal. Seals are really big and fat. I might be able to keep one as a pet! I am not sure that I have room for it in my room. That could be a problem. Since it’s summer, Alaska might not be too cold. I’ve got to make sure I don’t hook the Loch Ness Monster!  Actually, I was trying to catch it. Plus, I would keep it for a pet! That would be scary. I want to make igloos and live in them. What if the igloo melts? In that case I’ll just stay here. That’s what my summer will be like.

Florida Vacation
By Mrs. Catanese’s class

Last year I went to Florida for a vacation. When I got there it was burning hot weather. So I went to the beach and skim boarded. When I was skim boarding I heard a weird noise. The noise was big. It was coming from the ocean. The noise was a shark and it was a big shark! The shark started to chase me! So we went up shore before it could catch us. I am so glad I made it! Then I took a break. Then I got a soda. I went back out in the water. When I got back in the water I was careful where I swam. It was very scary to me! Then I saw the shark again. He chased me and almost bit my foot off. The shark just about got me just as I reached the shore. When I got on the shore I sat down in the sand and waited until the shark went away go back in. Then I jumped back in and a crab pinched my butt!  The crab tried to rip my nose off. But I got off the crab and went back to shore. I went out and saw no shark. So I went back in the water. The shark never came back. THE END!

Who is Ms. Eichberger?

By Emily Barnard and Becky Cunningham

Ms. Eichberger teaches first grade here at Onekama. She likes first graders because “they are content with the simple things in life. First graders are very curious people who live life to its fullest.” She thinks the students love to sing and dance with her, but she says to ask the students just to make sure.

Ms. Eichberger remembers wanting to become a teacher when she was in second grade. She used to play school with her siblings and she was always the teacher. Her mom was her role model.

At Western Michigan University, she studied choral conducting, voice and piano. She decided to get a teaching certificate in music and the elementary classroom.

Ms Eichberger would like to see an art exhibit of the many ways Jell-O is prepared, although she doesn't eat it herself.

She loves to study music. Playing the piano and singing are casual parts of her day. She believes that travel is the best way to learn about life. She loves to go places.

And she just had a baby girl.
