Dear Kindergarten Families,

Our literacy centers this week focused on the letter Tt. At the language center students completed a letter Tt book and made a word graph of beginning letter sounds. At the writing center students practiced writing the letter Tt, drew something that begins with Tt, wrote a sentence and found words around the room that begin with Tt to write down and read. At the math center students learned how to write the numbers 6 and 7 and they completed an October calendar. Our theme this week is trees so at the theme art center students completed three tree activities. They made a tree and labeled its parts, they made a tree timeline about 2 important events in their lives and they made family trees.

Please remember that there will be no school Monday, October 11th. There is a teacher in-service that day. Friday (tomorrow) is show and tell day. Have your child bring in something that begins with the letter Tt to share with the class.

Questions to ask your child this week are the following:

  1. What sound does the letter Tt make?
  2. Can you tell me three words that begin with the letter Tt?
  3. Can you tell me about the three main parts of a tree?

Attached to this letter you will find a sign-up sheet for volunteers on party days. Please look it over and figure out if you can help in any of the ways listed. Return the form to me as soon as possible. Thanks!!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Miss Schultz
