Dear Kindergarten Families,

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! This week we continued our Rainforest study by reading The Great Kapok Tree and learning its importance to the Rainforest. At the theme art center students made their own kapok tree and wrote about what they learned from listening to the story.

At language and writing students read more animal riddles and wrote the name of the animal that each riddle described. They put together rainforest word puzzles and used one of the words in a sentence. Students read the Five Speckled Frogs rhyme and completed an —ool and —ug word family book.

At the math center students played a $1.00 exchange game. They are all counting change very well!! I introduced them to 3D shapes and they were given homework to find some of the shapes at home to bring to school.

I need to remind you of a few things. First, please return the Morley Candy Fundraiser money before Spring Break (March 24th). Second, our Kindergarten round-up will be on April 7th at 6:30 in the evening. Please spread the word to any families you know that have a kindergarten age student. Also, don’t forget about our Young Author’s Night on March 22nd at 6:30 in the evening. We are working very hard on our books and each student would be thrilled to read their book to you. This is a very special night. It really shows how much these kindergarteners have learned this year.

Sincerely,

Miss Schultz kschultz@manistee.org
