Dear Kindergarten Families, This week we have been learning all about the letter Ii. At the language and writing center students completed a letter Ii book, they learned 2 Ii tongue twisters and they practiced writing sentences with Ii words. They are writing such terrific sentences these days!! At the math center students completed a February calendar. They also wrote and illustrated a take away story. They enjoyed playing the game disappearing train so much last week that they played it on their own in their groups this week. At the theme art center this week students learned about igloo’s and wrote what they thought it would be like to live in an igloo. We talked about the Inuit tribe of people and I showed the students the places where they live and we discussed the type of weather found in these places. The students also completed an ice-cream activity and an inchworm activity. Tuesday and today we had fourth graders visit our classroom to help us with our stories. We will be writing another story next week and then we will begin working on a story to publish and share at Young Author’s Night (March 22nd). |
Our Valentine’s Day party will
be Monday the 14th!! Those of you that signed
up to help have been given a letter showing what you
signed up to help us with on that afternoon. We will
begin our party a little after lunch at approximately
1:00. Please let me know if you need a list of names. You
should have gotten a yellow piece of paper with the
student’s names on it. Please include a Valentine
for Alec. He is our Flat Stanley student from the state
of Washington. This is a special project we are doing
during the month of February and all the Valentine cards
will be sent back to that student in March. Our Good Behavior Ski Day is next week Wednesday, Feb. 8th. If you are coming with us please arrive at school with your child. You will be riding the bus to Crystal Mountain with us. Please be sure you have filled out all the necessary forms and turned them into the office. Have a good weekend!
