Dear Kindergarten Families,

This week for our Christmas around the world theme we talked about traditions in Mexico. At the theme art center students learned about the things people in Mexico do to celebrate the holidays. They made a maraca and we learned the songs Oh Christmas Tree (Que verde son — how green they are) and Feliz Navidad (Merry Christmas). The poinsettia plant grows wild in Mexico so that is the place where that tradition began. The kids worked together to make a paper poinsettia. Students learned the color words and some Christmas words in Spanish.

At the math center students played the game walk around the clock to practice telling time by the hour. They learned the numbers one through 12 in Spanish and they played a high roller game to practice counting and writing numbers.

At the language and writing center this week we focused on the letter Ff. Students completed a letter Ff book, they learned two Ff tongue twisters and they practiced writing the letter Ff.
