Does it take more force to move an object on a smooth surface (table top) or on a rough surface (carpet)

We measured to compare the amount of stretch needed to move different size objects on smooth and rough surfaces.

Students followed instructions to measure the length of a rubber band when pulling objects of different masses. After recording their findings they compared the results from moving heavier objects and lighter objects. They also noted the difference between moving objects along a smooth surface and a rough surface.
