Mr. Rudy tells us about solar and wind energy
Solar Energy

I liked the presentation. Mr. Rudy taught us about solar energy. I liked it when he told us his solar panel got hit by lightning. I learned that a light bulb gives off more heat than light. He told us that his bill is 9 cents a month. He also told us that a florescent light bulb gives off less heat. Florescent light bulbs also have a gas inside it to make it light. At night he uses batteries to use the T.V. He charges the batteries when the sun comes up.

Mr. Rudy has a cool house. He uses solar energy. He gets that by using solar panels. ... He stores it all in 26 pound batteries. His whole house runs on the solar energy. The light bulbs he uses bring out 30% light and 70% heat. Regular bulbs have 9 % light and 91% heat. ...Nicholas

I liked when we learnt about the solar panels because they are cool. They were facing in the direction of the sun. The sun was giving the energy to the solar pad. ...Brittany

Mr. Rudy lives in Frankfort. He lives miles away from the electric pole so he thought what if my lights were to go out? That's why he went solar. ...Alicia

He also showed us three different kinds of light bulbs. One had a florescent light curled up inside of the glass. One was just the florescent light curled up. There was no glass around it. The last one was a regular bulb. ...Mariah

In the process of solar energy first the sun's protos hit the solar panel. Then the solar energy goes into a battery and gives energy to the house. Then Mr. Rudy showed us a magazine and in the magazine he was at the bottom of the page, The reason he was in the magazine is because he powered his and his neighbors house by solar panels...Louise

Yesterday Mr. Rudy came into our class for science. He taught us a lot. He showed us about his very unique house. It runs on Solar Panels in the summer and a wind turbine in the winter. The Solar Panels conduct heat and that makes electricity. His electricity bill is very low. The solar panels are made of silicone. His solar panels have been hit by lightning twice! They do damage, but he gets new ones. He also taught us about batteries. He showed us a car battery that was 26 pounds. He told us they store electricity until you need to use it. He brought in one of his solar panels and we hooked it up to the battery and it charged. We used an amp meter to tell how much juice it had in it. These experaments were very fun.

If it is to be, it is up to me!

Yesterday we had a guest speaker. His namewas Mr. Rudy. He talked about solar panels and solar energy. He had a solar panel and brought it in. A radio, a fan, and two light bulbs ran on the solar panels. When Mr. Rudy came in it was fun. He said there are three ways to get electricity. One way is to get it from a power plant where they burn coal to get electricity. Another way is to own a solar panl. A third way is to have a windmill. If I were to choose one, I would definitly get a solar panal and a wind mill!

Solar energy is better than coal energy because it does not pollute the air. Hydroelectric power doesn't pollute the air either. Another non-pollutive power source is a windmill. Did you know that if you use coal energy, every 1kwh (kilo watts hour), you're putting two pounds of pollution into the air?

Solar panels are mostly metal with little chips of silicone. The solar panels are silver, blue, and black.

A person named Mr. Rudy showed us how his house is run by solar power. When all the houses around him had no power, he had power because he had a batter from solar energy. ... His battery could keep his house up for a day or two. They make solar panels in a varity of ways such as solar shingols, solar panels for your rooof and a thing that can lower and hyer the solar panels...Randy
Mr. Rudy has solar panels on his house and his electric bill is nothing. If the power goes out his does not because of the sun hitting the solar panels and making electricity. Solar energy comes from the sun. Solar energy never ends. Solar energy needs a battery, but when it runs out it keeps on recharging. We had a lot of fun with Mr. Rudy. ...Alison Mr. Rudy came to our classroom. He taught us about solar panels. He was even in a magazine! I learned a lot about solar panels. They're blue, rectangle and can be almost anywhere. We also learned about a battery. They can be as big as a desk and as heavy as 2,000 pounds. Batteries can also be different sizes, shapes and colors. Mr. Rudy was a great person to have in our class. ...Elizabeth
In the wintertime he uses a wind turbine. The wind turbines have propellers. They make energy and electricity. They used to pump water. ...Austin

When he was here we noticed that one light bulb was brighter than the other, not because of the batterie because they both had AA. It was because one light bulb was filament wire with gas. ...Katie

We learned about batterys too. If the lights went out in your house the stuff that uses batteries wouldn't. Batteries can last for a long time. Batteries can be used in a lot of things. ...Quinn

Solar panals can really help. One way it helps is whenever he flips the switch he doesn't pollute the air. He doesn't even have to pay an electric bill. ...Jennica

Our speaker was Mr. Rudy. He taught us about solar energy. His house is lit by solar energy. Mr. Rudy lives in Frankfort on sleeping bear dunes. His house has solar panels all round his house. It has to be sunshinning outside for the solar panals to work. I hope some day my house will be lighted by solar panal or solar energy. Mr. Rudy was a good speaker. I liked him a lot. ...Bryce Once Mr. Rudy ran over the solar panel and it still worked. Also once Mr. Rudy made a hole in it and it still worked.Solar panels are very strong. ...Mariah

I thought the most interesting part was when he turned the classroom lights off and then said the reason the other light didn't go out was because it was running on a different kind of energy. ..Shamika

If you don't have solar energy your electricity bill is $60 a month. If you don't have solar energy you should do less TV, computer, video games and computer games. Solar panels are cool because you have just a little electric payment bill. ...Jacob B.

I think solar panels are cool because I would not have to pay for my electricity. ...Jena

Solar House
Jessa

Mr. Rudy's house is different because he gets his electricity from solar panels. He gets it from sun in summer and wind in winter. If he has any extra he sells it to the electric company. I told my mom and dad about solar energy. They thought it was very cool. Mr. Rudy had a good idea about using solar energy for electricities. One of the batteries was for a car. It was called a car battery. If you turned off the car but left just the radio on you would be able to use the radio longer because you're using just the radio. If you are using the radio, wippers, and heat you wouldn't get it as long because you have more things running. If you have solar energy you must remember to turn off everything before you leave the house. If you're not using something than you must turn it off to save some electricity. That's what I learned about solar energy.

Solar Panels come in all different sizes. You can put the solar panels on a car. You can put the solar panels on a boat. The winter doesn't hurt the solar panels. ...Josh J.

Mr. Rudy's house is all powered by solar energy. Another neat fact is that solar panels are really tough. He said that they can be in the rain and that they have been hit by lightning. ...Kelly

Mr. Rudy bought solar panels so the city wouldn't pollute the air. Mr. Rudy accidentally drilled a hole in a solar panel one day and it is still working. ...Jacob M.
