Junior Achievement: Day 3

Tanner, Brandon M., Brandon G., Zac, Jami, and Austin C. attempt to mass produce pens.-->

My whole group had to make pens for ourselves. It was really hard to know which part went where. The easiest part was seeing if the pen would write. I enjoyed making the pens. I hope that we can do it again. ...Shamika

Last week We made pens. Our team had to work alone. It was hard for me to make the pens. There are six parts to a pen. ...Alicia

It was fun making pens. Our class got timed for two minutes and how many pens we could make. ... I think it was hard to make pens. Some of the people in my group got butterflies. Unit production probably made the most pens because it didn't take so long passing the pen parts from one to another. J.A. is fun. I like it. ...Katie

Mass production is an assembly line. The assembly line is what Ford used. ...Mikayla

In Junior Achievement we made pens. ... It wasn't as easy as it looked. I only got two done. First we had to get our supplies and then we got to build the pens. The pens were hard to put together. Then we had to take them apart. ...Nolan

In J.A. we made pens. My part was to screw together the top part and the bottom part of the pen together. I got backed up because I couldn't screw them together. I had lots of fun. ...Brandon M.

We made pens in J.A. One thing we had to make pens as fast as we could in two minutes. The thing you tried to do was try to be the best group and if you win, you will just win. In the pen making game my group had unit production. Unit production is working to do something by yourself. It was frusterating because I could never get my pen to click. ...Jaylee

Mrs. Punches goes for an interview. Unfortunately, she does not get the job. Students discuss what she did wrong.

Mrs. Punches chews gum and takes off her shoes during the interview. She doesn't sound like a good worker.

Last week we made pens with Mrs. Punches. It was fun. Most of the time I was the timer. I timed each group. Mass production was when we all worked on one pen. That was easy but took longer than Unit production. Unit production was when each person seperatly worked on one. This was harder and took longer. It was fun making pens. ....Tyler
I enjoyed learning how to make pens. One thing I liked was being timed and seing how many pens you can put together. ...I made two pens and altogether my group made eight. I never knew that there were so many parts to one little pen. ...Lindsay

We all had numbers, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. Number 1 handed the cartage to number 2, and #2 put the spring on. ...Madalyn

On mass production Kyle's team had a lot of pens made. Mass production was the hardest. Unit production was easy because you can take your time if you want and you don't need people handing stuff down to you when you are still working with one. It was fun but it was really really fun making your own pen. My group came in last, but at least we had some fun. I'm glad that we have Mrs. Punches come on Wednesday. ...Adrian
Last week we made pens. To make them we first took the part with the ink. Then we took the spring and put it on the ink part. It was tricky. Some people put the spring on upside down. Next we put what we had in the head (plastic part that is on the front) then we took a poosher and put it on the white part. Then we put on the end and screwed it together. ...Mariah

The team of Sam, Lindsay, Angel, Randy, Mikayla showed Unit Production. Each student took the 6 parts and made their own pen.

Alison, Dylan, Emily, Louise, Madalyn, and Danielle showed how Mass Production works. Each team member did a part of the process.

In J.A. we made pens. The pens were easy to make. My group was a Unit Production That means we make them by ourselves. I made the most pens in two minutes. I made 4 in 2 minutes. It was hard to remember how to put them together. It was fun making the pens. ...Kyle

I got three pens finished and they all worked. I hope we do this again. ...Sean

Jaylee, KateLynn, Adrian, Cody, Mariah, and Alicia also did Unit Production.

Everyone thought being a factory worker was a great idea. On Monday they will be making a pen to keep, and, of course, writing about the procedure.

Our class made pens. The pens were apart. We had to put them together in mass and unit production. We had to make as much as we can in a certain time. Our group had the second highest score for making them . We had fun making them. ...Emily P.

On Wednesday we made pens. My group did Unit production where you have to make as many as you can by yourself. Emily's group did mass production when your group has to do it as a group. I think that Unit pro. is easier. ...Jennica
