Thursday, May 26, 2005, the 5th grade went on the Badger. It was originally used to haul trains across Lake Michigan. Then as years went by they turned it into a carferry. We got to ride on the bus while it was loading onto the Badger. The Badger has many rooms. Some rooms are like the arcade, movie theater, and I also like the main deck. Those were some things I learned about the Badger. ...Jennica
On Thursday the 26th our class went on the Badger. The bus ride to Ludington wasn't very long. We were in the bus when we went in the car ferry part of the boat. We got out when it was parked and walked up a metal stairway to the passenger part of the boat. We put our stuff in the main lounge. Then we looked around the boat. The halls were real skinny. I went out on the deck but it was raining so I went back inside. Mikayla and I played Bingo for a while. Then I went in the gift shop and bought a box of small books. I also bought a key chain that looked like the SS Badger. I watched part of the movie Finding Nemo and then went out on the deck again. It was nice and sunny and I could see land on the horizon. In Wisconsin we went to a museum and toured a submarine. I was very tired after our long hard day. ...Louise
We got to go in a submarine. it was very tight and small. They showed us the torpedoes and other levers to control it. We got to see where they sleep. He also showed us where they work at different positions. We also got to see a huge gun on top of it. He showed us what they had to do to meet the king, queen, and baby. They saved all their rotten food, oil, gas, and liquids. Then they climbed through a tube full of oil. They they jumped in the sea to rinse off. Then he finished up and we left for home. ...Alex
Going on the Badger was really fun because we didn't have to be bossed around by parents. We didn't see the chaperones too often because they were taking care of their own kids or lounging on the upper deck. So we could pretty much do what we wanted, except jump off the ship. It was also fun because we got to miss school and have a change of pace. It was really nice. ...Madelyn
Yesterday we went on the Badger at 9 o'clock. The Badger had an arcade and movie theater. The trip was about four hours long. When we got to Wisconsin we went to a boat museum. There were war boat models. Soon we went on the submarine. The guide was on a submarine during the Vietnam war. He showed us the torpedo room, the engine room , the second engine room the two dining rooms and the resting rooms. On the Badger we played Badger Bingo and got to win prizes. Then we went on the top deck. It was windy up there. It sure was fun on the Badger. ...Chance
When we got on the Badger I mostly played a duck hunting game. I had the highest store. I played a racing game and had the 3rd highest score. Then for much of the game I played bingo with my mom. I won a beach ball and a 16 oz drink. Also Cody and I played more gameboy. When we got to Wisconsin we went to a museum and went into a submarine. A sailor had to know what every valve and switch was for on the whole submarine. There were a lot of valves and switches to know. In the museum we went and played in the water room and played with waterfalls and things. Then we went back on the boat and Cody and I went straight to the arcade. ...Kyle
The Badger was really fun. The Badger had a lot of history. The Badger use to carry trains but now it carries cars, trucks and other vehicles. It also carries passengers. When we were at the museum we were in the water room. It had a little water falls and you could make boats and put a sail on them. Then you had a machine so you could blow them down a path. They also had a lot of history. It was cool. ...Emily
