Onekama's Fourth Graders Visit White Pine Village

My class went to White Pine Village. We saw cool things. We met a story teller. I learned back then at school the bathroom was outside. Back then they did not have electricity. They had different toys. We learned they had smaller houses. A lot of people carved things and sold them. It's different now. ,,,Jessa

On Friday our 4th grade class went to White Pine Village, a historical replica of an early 1800's Michigan village. They had old-fashioned buildings like a one-room schoolhouse, a print shop, and a trapper's cabin. My favorite building was the storytelling museum. It was cool. I had a lot of fun. ...Emily

My favorite building was the church. My class and I went there because it told you about Michigan History. It was fun going to White Pine Village. The saddles I saw in the barn were a lot different than the ones I use on my horse. ...Miranda

We saw some really cool things. It is not what I thought it would be. I saw how it would be to live in the olden days. Going to White Pine Village was fun because of all the buildings. That would be fun to go to school and sit in the dunce chair. It would be just like getting RTC but wearing a dunce hat and sitting in a three leg chair. ...Emily

On Friday the class went to White Pine Village. I saw the doctor's office. Someone swallowed a penney and a toothbrush. Then we went to the post office. There were one hundred eighty-five mail boxes and two saddle bags.
We also went to the barn. There were two saddles. Then we went to the jail. All you slept on was straw. That is only some. I had a good time. ...Curtis

My favorite building was the Music Museum because we got to see the cool instruments that they had in the old times. Our group liked the black smith and how he was making fire. It would hurt pulling a string all day. ...Jacob M.

The court house is ware you go to court. It is like todays courthous except it is old fashion. There is an upstares where the Judge sleeps. The court house used to be a house. It was made by Kaswell. He was also the Judge. The people slept on hay and pillows with a bucket to drink from I herd that if they still had those corthouses these days there would be less robbers. That means less crime. That means a better place. Thats why I like the courthouse. ...Daniel
