Field Trip Scheduled

A field trip to the Crescent Bakery in Frankfort has been tentatively scheduled for the morning of Wednesday, January 21. Because of our inclement weather days, I was unable to get the transportation request before this newsletter publication. Please sign the permission slip on the reverse of this newsletter. If you are interested in joining us on the trip, there is room for two parents. The bakery is very small therefore, two parents will be sufficient. Please call me at 889- 9674 ext. 438 if you’d like to join us.

Subjects Integrated

  • Social Studies- Core Democratic Value: Common Good — People working together for the good of all.
  • Career Awareness: Baker
  • Language — The Little Red Hen
  • Math — Prices of items in a bakery

Lessons Gained from this trip:

  • The students will recognize the process of creating a product of quality.
  • The students will identify the reasons why working together is good for a community. Students will describe what it’s like to be a baker. Students will identify the prices of items in a bakery.
Assessment

I have begun testing the children for first grade spelling words.Beginning the first week of February, you child will be given a spelling test each Friday. The spelling test will consist of 5 -10 words.

Student Work to Be Returned Tomorrow!

Due to our icy roads I was unable to retrieve work from school. Please look for your child’s work in their backpacks on Friday.

Upcoming Dates to Remember

  • ASAP — Please return forms for Good Behavior Ski Day
  • Friday, January 21 — No School
  • Week of January 24 — Report Cards and Narrative Sent home.
