2003 Dear Kindergarten Families, We have begun our fall unit this week. This unit will continue for a while as we discuss the leaves changing color, shadows, harvest, farms, pumpkins, etc. The odd weather has thrown me off a bit and I have been unable to do a couple things I had planned for this week. Our letter of the week has been “Ff” so try to encourage your child to find something that begins with “Ff” for show-and-tell tomorrow. The centers that the children have been working on this week include journals to learn to write the letter “Ff”, practice with writing the numbers five and six along with some counting practice and putting numbers 0 through 15 in order, “Ff” books, creating a diagram and labeling the main parts of a tree, as well as patterning with the tangram blocks. We changed the calendar as a class and the children enjoyed saying good-bye to September and welcoming October. We took the number days down and counted backwards from 30. I have introduced tally marks and so we will now make tally marks to represent the number of days we have been in school during October. The morning snack schedule is
working out very well! Thank-you
so much for your generous donations.
I appreciate everyone’s organization because I know things
can get hectic. Please do not forget about Picture
Day!! Make sure you
fill out the package order form and have your child bring it back to
me. Our day for pictures
is Next Tuesday October 7th.
Unfortunately, I will not be here due to a conference in Indian
River so I am trying to be sure everything is in order for the guest
teacher. Questions to ask your child
this week are the following:
Have a wonderful weekend! Sincerely, |
