Dear Kindergarten Families,

This week we have been studying the letter “Kk.”  Our literacy centers have consisted of “Kk” books and a vowel game, journal writing, stories and name writing practice, making numbers with play-dough, learning to write the numbers 11 through 20 and simple addition, making a book about each member of our family to go along with our family theme, and science this week was all about birds.  We made bird feeders, did a feather experiment and learned about what happens when water falls on feathers.

Conferences went very well.  I appreciate all the feedback I got from you and it was wonderful to meet everyone.  Please be advised that next week is a short week.  There is no school on Thursday or Friday due to the Thanksgiving holiday.  Don’t forget about the book order!  I need your orders tomorrow so I can send it in.  Books make wonderful Christmas gifts.

I just want to give you a little reminder about afternoon snack.  Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday I reserve time for an afternoon snack.  Please send a little something with your child on these days.  Good things to bring are crackers, fruit, granola bar, etc anything that is nutritious and gives them energy to get through the afternoon.  I don’t always have extra snacks, so please provide something for these afternoons.

That is all for now!  Take care and have a great weekend!

Sincerely,

Miss Schultz
