Dear Kindergarten Families,

This week’s literacy centers have focused on the summer season as we get ready to begin vacation.  At the art center students made windsocks, put together a summer predictable chart book and read their finished book.  At the writing center students did a rough and final copy of writing about what they plan to do during summer vacation.  Their final copy was done on special summer themed stationary.  At the math center students completed their final calendar.  This time they were asked to color code the numbers counting by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s.  Then they completed a graph to find out how many students were wearing tie shoes and how many were not wearing tie shoes.

Tomorrow we will be heading to the beach for the afternoon!  I want to remind you of what the children need to bring.

  • Sack lunch and drinks

  • Sunblock

  • Hat

  • Jacket/sweatshirt

  • Towel

  • Beach toys

Please be sure they have their backpack tomorrow – it will be the easiest way to carry all the above items!  Children will only be wading, not swimming.  We are leaving at 11:00 and will return at 2:30.  If you are coming with us please be sure you are here by 10:50.

Our fieldtrip to the Amber Elk Ranch is Monday the 7th.  We are leaving at 9:00 sharp and will return at 2:30.  Please be sure your child has a sack lunch for this outing too.  We will be eating at a park that day on our way home.

Our field day is scheduled for Tuesday, June 8th.  This begins after lunch.  Anyone is welcome.  Wednesday, June 9th we will be having a class pizza picnic.  It will begin at 11:30.  Last day for students is June 10th.  Report cards will go home at that time.  We have collected numerous containers and plan to ask that you collect Box Tops For Education over the summer.  Be looking for your child’s container.  We decorated them today and explained to the kids where the appropriate box tops are found.  Onekama will appreciate any box tops you can collect throughout the summer  -  Thanks!!

Whew!  I think that is all.  Have a wonderful weekend!  I think it may finally be done raining.

Sincerely,

Miss Schultz
