Dear
Kindergarten Families, Our
theme this week has been the Rainforest.
Each literacy center focused on facts and related activities to
learn all about the uniqueness of the Rainforest.
At the language center students put together Rainforest word
puzzles, read the words and then chose one word to write in a
sentence. They drew and
labeled the four layers of the Rainforest and they also had some
Rainforest animal riddles to solve.
At the Writing center students completed the prompt if I was a
Rainforest animal I would be a ___________.
They also made an accordion book of words describing the
Rainforest. At the math center the kids looked through Rainforest books
and made tallies for every type of animal they saw in the book.
I brought in several Rainforest fruits and they sorted them,
tasted them and colored a class graph indicating which fruit they
liked the best. At the
art center we made a mural of the Rainforest.
We did a layer a day and each student made one animal and one
plant. |
Please
remember to mark your calendars for next week’s Spring Sing and Art
Show on May 26th at 7:00 pm.
Children should wear jeans and a white shirt.
They may also wear a bandana.
We will be leaving for the Amber Elk Ranch on Monday, June 7th
at 9:15. Your child needs
a sack lunch that day. Field
day is scheduled for June 8th.
The last school day for students is June 10th. Questions
to ask your child this week are the following: 1)
How many layers are there in the Rainforest?
What are they called? Can you do the motions that show and
represent each layer? 2)
Can you tell me three animals that live in the Rainforest? 3)
What is the weather like in the Rainforest? Okay,
that is all for now. Take
care and have a wonderful weekend! Sincerely, Miss Schultz |
