Thursday, March 4th, 2004 Dear Kindergarten Families, The first week of March has gone by quickly. Our literacy centers this week have focused on our new month and the letter Uu. The language center task was to make a Uu book and make new words from the word families "ad" and "ake". The writing center task was to practice writing the letter Uu, write a sentence about something that begins with Uu, a journal entry about what you would do with a magical wand and a few students have started their rough draft for their bare book story. At the math center we made March calendars and used stamps to create addition problems. We have started a new Philanthropy unit and we completed a special center about working together to solve a problem. We read The Little Red Hen by Paul Galdone and wrote the four steps it took the hen to be able to make a cake. At the fifth center this week we finished our world books and had a quiz to determine the information we had attained from the project. |
March is reading month and we have a
variety of fun activities planned. Tuesday we celebrated Dr. Seusss 100th
birthday with cake and we drew a name of one
of his books out of a hat. We are now decorating our door
after the story Horton Hears a Who.
Tomorrow we will turn in our coupon and receive
a prize. Next week we will be decorating hats. Thank-you
so much to those of you who brought in some hat
decorating supplies. We have some wonderful items to be
able to make some unique hats. I will be in need of a volunteer on March 19th and March 26th from 10:30 until 11:30. Please let me know if you are available to help us out during our centers on those days. That is all for now! Enjoy the weekend! Sincerely, Miss Schultz |
