Thursday,
March 11, 2004 Our literacy
centers this week have been the following.
The language task was to complete a Vv book, complete two word
graphs about the word families “ap” and “ame” and write a
sentence with one of the new words. At the writing center, students practiced writing the letter
Vv, wrote a sentence using a Vv word, wrote a journal entry about what
makes them laugh and continued working on their bare book rough drafts.
The math center this week focused on the fraction ˝ by making a
book and making apple prints. The third task was to make domino number families.
We have begun a unit about nutrition so our theme center asked
that the children make a poster illustrating ways to keep our bodies
healthy and then we looked at the Food Guide Pyramid and made a healthy
food collage. |
I have continued the second Philanthropy unit with lesson two which had students draw all the members of their family, discuss the ways that a family is a community and write something they can do to show each member of the family that they care about them. Our
March is reading month tasks this week were to read 5 Dr. Seuss books
and make wacky hats. We
read Hop on Pop, The Foot Book, Wacky Wednesday, There’s a Wocket
in my Pocket, and Horton Hatches an egg.
Our hats turned out very cute.
We will be wearing them while we eat green eggs and ham for
breakfast next week! We
had a seventh grade class visit us this morning.
They interviewed us and read to us.
It is always a hoot to see those big kids in a room full of
small furniture! It was
an enjoyable morning. Miss Schultz |
