Dear
Kindergarten Families,
Happy New Year and welcome back to the school routine!
I am very happy to be back.
These upcoming months are very important in the development of
your kindergartener. They will be introduced to many new concepts as well as
master the concepts that have been focused on since the beginning of
the year.
In lieu of January our letter this week has been Jj.
Centers have included Jj books and a word graph, Jj writing
practice, sentence and pattern books, a January calendar, an activity
about how our hands can be used to help others and new year’s
resolutions as well as making props related to a story entitled The
Mitten in order to retell the story to others. Winter will be our theme during most of January with the
addition of a study of arctic animals. |
I have begun to introduce money. We have talked about the penny, nickel, dime and quarter. We will practice counting different amounts each day. We have also started our Where in the world do I live books. These books will help them become familiar with their city, state and country while at the same time giving them a hands-on experience with maps. Homework
folders will be coming home for the first time next week.
Please look for them in Thursday folders.
My homework expectations will be explained directly inside the
folders.
With winter being in high gear I just wanted to remind you that
we have P.E. on Monday morning. Please
be sure that your child has gym shoes to change into so they do not
have to wear their boots.
Thanks! Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely, Miss Schultz |
