Miss Schultz' Parent Letter
Thursday, February 12, 2004

Dear Kindergarten Families,

We are still working with the sky theme.  We are talking about both the night sky and the day sky.  Our literacy centers have been the following:  Language this week has focused on the letter Ee book and the Humpty Dumpty rhyme.  Writing has focused on Ee practice, writing a sentence about a picture of an object beginning with Ee and continued work on pattern books.  The math tasks have been counting change in order to purchase items at Miss Schultz’s store and an introduction to measuring centimeters and inches with a ruler.  Our theme center this week requested that the children make a daytime picture with a house, snow, clouds, sun, fence and then they had to do some reading to label the items in the picture.

Happy 100th day!  Yes, we have reached the 100th day of school.  We will be celebrating Friday morning by participating in a variety of activities in the hallway prepared by all the lower elementary teachers.

Homework folders resume this week.  I have also included a beginning level book for your child to read.  Please have them read the book as many times as they would like.  Be sure to review the words at the back of the book after each reading.  When your child returns their folder I will ask them to read the book to me.  I will give them a different book each week.

Our Valentine’s Day party is tomorrow afternoon.  Please be sure your child brings their valentine cards for all the students in our class.  We will pass them out after lunch.

Good Behavior Ski Day is coming up on February 25th.  All the important forms have been turned in and we are ready to go!  Anyone is welcome to join us.  It will be a great day.

That is all for this week.  Have a wonderful weekend!

  Sincerely,

Miss Schultz
