Dear Kindergarten Families,

We continued this week with our spring theme.  The theme art literacy center task was to write a book about spring.  At the language center students completed the –ail word family book and a cut and paste beginning and ending sound activity.  At the writing center students completed a journal entry and finished their “bare” book stories and began writing their polished copy inside the book.  At the math center students measured five different sized pieces of string, practiced addition using sticks and completed addition and subtraction equations with a calculator.  Out science center focused on living things and went into detail about plant parts and things plants need in order to grow.

I would like to thank those of you who made it to conferences Tuesday night.  The kids had fun sharing their work.  I enjoyed talking to each of you.  They are all doing so well!

Please remember that it is our month to donate food to the food pantry.  Also, we will be walking in the gym tomorrow as part of the relay for life fundraiser.  We will begin walking at 12:15 and end at 1:00.  You are more than welcome to join us.  I will be sending in the book order tomorrow so please be sure you turn in your orders.  I have only gotten one order thus far.

Questions to ask your child this week are the following:

  1. What are the 4 parts of a plant?

  2. What are the 4 things a plant needs to grow?

  3. Can you describe the spring season?

  4. Ask your child to solve some simple addition and subtraction equations.

Have a wonderful week end!

Sinderely,

Miss Schultz
