Mold can grow with out sunlight. We had a tomato, an orange and a piece of bread in a bole. We put it in the cupboard. It was really dark in the cupboard. The mold started to grow on the food. When we took it out it did not look like food any more. The tomato had white fuzzy mold. The bread had white fuzzy on it and blue spots. The orange had a lot of blue mold on it. When we started this project we put a grapefruit, a tomato, and a piece of bread into a bowl. We also dampened the grapefruit, the tomato, and the piece of bread. After a couple of days we had a mold on the grapefruit. Then 3 days later there was a fuzzy white mold on the tomato, and the grapefruit. The mold got bigger and grayer on the grapefruit when the days went by. Now our grapefruit has a little bit of mold on the peel. First we dampened our hands in some dirty water. Then we put some Grapefruit a piece of bread and some tomato, we touched the food all over. Then we put the food in the bowl in a plastic bag and squeezed all the air out of the bag. After that we put the bowl in a cabinet then we closed the cabinet doors so it was dark in the cabinet. Then the mold started eating the food and the mold started growing. The mold was gray, white, blue, green and fuzzy. The mold doesn’t need to have sunlight to grow, all it needs is a little water and whatever it is growing on.
