Pollution Plume

Safe Water Experiment
Alan

I liked the pollution experimate but it was really hard too. We had to look at the clock a lot. The water got really green. We had al most a full cup of green water.

W used a groundwater model. We had to write a lot of stuff too. We had to write a lot of numbers and take measurements.

Pollution is bad because people get very sick from polluted water. In our experiment we could tell it was polluted by the color. In real life it may be harder to tell. Polluted is bad for your body because you might get an infection.

We did an experiment how water is polluted. We used green dye, water, and cups. The green dye we got was 230mL before it got cleaner. I like learning about polluted water.

Pollution is bad because people can get sick, or get hurt. Some people even have to go to the hospital because of polluted water. The water gets polluted by pollution in an aquifer and the pollution goes to a well and gets pumped out by a well.

The experiment we did was when we put in green dye into our underground diagram and polluted our well. We first put in water (after we put in the green dye) and then pumped the water out by our well. We used a straw as the pump. We kept doing this until the water was clear. It took us 20mL before the green dye came up in the well, it took us 230mL before the water was clear. I thought it was very nice to experiment on the underground diagram of the well.

Pollution is bad because it can get in your well. It takes many months for pollution to get under ground. Pollution can make you sick. It has to go through the dirt the gravel and the sand before it gets to the well. Pollution is not a good thing .

The sand slows the pollution down. It goes fast thruogh gravel. When it reaches the bottom of the ground it goes up the well. Pollution can get in your water. It is dangerous when you drink it.

It was interesting doing this experiment. It took five whole minutes for the pollution to get to the well. It took evan longer to pump the pollution out of the well. We had to put food coloring in the container. Then we had to wait for the pollution to get to the well. After we had the pollution in the well we all had to pump the water out of the well. That is what our experiment was about.

Today we got Mr. Lengerman back to do the last part of Science Seekers. We got the mini aquifer and put 5 drops of food coloring in it. After that we started taking water out of the well. We had to record a lot of things like the times of stuff. Then when food coloring started coming out of the well we started cleaning it up we had to count how much polluted water came out of the well until the water was clean. After that we answered a lot of questions about polluted water and how we fixed it.

I liked that experiment because we got to watch the food coloring go down to the well. I would like to do it again. I got to pump the well and everyone else put the water in the ground.

I think we should have safe water because that way we all are healthy. Polluted water is bad because stuff like lead can damage a child’s brain. I am glad that we don’t have lead or other stuff in our water.

We made a system of pollution plom. We had food coloring as the pollution. It smelled like sauce. I don’t know what type of sauce. It drained through the dirt, sands and gravel. It looked greenish blue. It had a tube for a well in it. It was clear and had a straw in it.

Duane Gives His Opinion.

Pollution is almost everywhere and it can do a lot of bad things. Some of those things are destroying habitats, poisoning crops and living things. That can cause a lot more bad things to happen.

Doing these simple steps can stop pollution. One, don't pollute. Two, tell others not to pollute. Three, pick up pollution if it is in your area. Follow these steps and the world will be cleaner.
