Energy Pyramid Project
Cameron

It was interesting doing the energy pyramid and food chain project. The first thing that starts off the energy pyramid and the food chain are plants. The animals our group chose were Northern Michigan animals. Our group chose to draw a bear, oak trees, cardinals, blue jays, falcons, eagles, caterpillars, and a bobcat.

The hardest thing to do was make the energy pyramid. The energy pyramid consists of 5 levels each consisting 5 different animals. There is one level for each different amounts of energy. The most enjoyable thing to do was draw the pictures. This is why I enjoyed doing this project.

Bobcats, cat like animals, usually have spots. Our group drew many animals, but we also drew many other things. I was happy when we did this project.

Today Mr. Lengerman, our midtier student, assigned us to make an energy pyramid. My partner is Malana. She made the energy pyramid. I made the food chain. We worked our hardest on it. Then we got done drawling it.

Next we started coloring. We both drew a lot, and were tired. We still wanted to color. We thought it was really good. We thought that it was our best piece of artwork we had ever done together.

In science I made a food chain. My partner was Lauren. She did the Energy Pyramid. Mr. Lengerman, a midtier teacher helper, helped us a lot with what animals to put in it. We made Michigan animals. Lauren made a bobcat, possum, and ants.

I made a tree, a frog, a snake, a deer, and a bear. We were making a food chain of Michigan animals. It was really fun. There are lots of different Michigan animals. We were doing a sequence, and we had to put it in order.

The frog eats the tree, the snake eats the frog, the owl ate the snake, the deer ate the owl, and the bear eats the deer. Doing this project was fun, but drawing the animals was hard!

For Science, a very boring subject, today we made a diagram showing how food chains and energy pyramids work. We learned that food chains and energy pyramids are diagrams showing how animals eat each other to get energy. That is what food chains do.

Food chains are alike in some ways, but they are different too. You see food chains are very simple, yet energy pyramids are more complex because they not only show that the animals eat each other, but they also show the amount of energy given to an animal when it eats another organism. Still, we need to keep energy pyramids/ food chains going because if one, or one part of one breaks down it can be devastating. That is what I learned about energy pyramids/ food chains.

Today Mr.Lengerman gave us an activity to do. Now I will tell what I did to help to finish our poster. What I did was that I did the food chain, but I was disappointed when I couldn't get some help from my friends Tim and Shane. They were working on the energy pyramid. It is a thing that is about like a food chain but it is not a food chain.

When we got close to the end the teacher came around and took pictures of us so that we could probably put them on the web. She was so nice she let us have a snack before we went to our next subject, which was math. The think I liked about this subject was that it was challenging for me and I could do it on my own for once.

My Energy Pyramid

Yesterday we did a project on food chains and pyramids. I worked with Ryan, Alan, and Cameron on the energy project. We drew animals and plants like blue jays, trees, bobcats, bears, eagles, ants, and cardinals. I worked on the pyramid mostly. We thought up animals that eat other animals, and we drew decomposers who break down those animals. I think decomposers are at the top of the food chain because they eat all of them and no animals eat them. People do eat mushrooms though. But mushrooms aren’t really decomposers.

We also got Mr. Lengerman, our midtier student, to help us. He taught us this lesson without Mrs. Eldridge’s help. I think Mr. Lengerman is a great teacher. Doing this project was really fun, but also very hard because I got to work with my friends and color. It was enjoyable doing this project.

My Energy Pyramid

Energy pyramids are the relative amount of energy available to each position, or level in the feeding order. I drew my energy pyramid on a big piece of poster paper. I drew animals from Michigan on it.

This is how I made it. At the top of the paper I drew a Bobcat. After that I put the next level and drew a possum on it. Then I put the level after the possum which is the ants. After the ants I put the last level the trees. Also I drew a sun up above everything because, trees and sun light give everything energy.

Ashley, my partner, made the food chain. We had fun, and I liked this progect

Today Mr.Lengerman, our midtier student teacher, gave us an assignment to make an energy pyramid, and a food chain. My partner was Brooke Somero. She did the food chain, and I did the energy pyramid.

Our animals for the energy pyramid were some trees, termites, monkeys, and some Siberian tigers. The trees got their energy from the sun, the termites got their energy from the trees, the monkeys got their energy from the termites, and the tigers got their energy from the monkeys. As the pyramid gets smaller the energy grows lower.

I had a fun time with this subject. Mr. Lengerman and Mrs. Eldridge are great teachers.

I worked on an energy pyramid. An energy pyramid is a chart showing how much energy a species gets when it eats. An energy pyramid also shows some groups of animals and what they eat. We had partners, and mine were Shane and Paul.

We drew animals. Our animals were deer, bobcats, wolverines, and bears. We had five levels. The plant we drew was a raspberry bush. We didn’t draw a sun yet, but we will. I drew 4 things, 2 animals,and2 pyramid blocks.

Today Tim, Paul, and I did a chart on the food chain and energy pyramid. I did the energy pyramid and Paul did the food chain. Tim, my friend, helped Paul and me. We did the food chain first while we did the energy pyramid last. After we did the food chain, Tim and I were going to work on the energy pyramid , but Paul had to finish the food chain.

Once in a while we all got mixed up in what all of us were doing. We were running out of time to finish. We finished but we had to write what an energy pyramid and food chain is. I had fun doing this with my friends.

Animal Poster
Ryan

Today, Oct. 3, we had to make a poster of a food chain and energy pyramid. Nolan, Alan, Cam and I were partners. I did the writing, and they did the drawing.

We used caterpillars, hawks, bobcats and a lot more animals. Mr. Lengeman helped us with a lot of animals. It was hard making the food chain and energy pyramid, but it was fun. I’m not sure if I’d want to do it again.

Today Mr.Lingerman told us about food chains and energy pyramids. Duane and I did one. Duane did the energy pyramid, and I did the food chain. I put the sun goes to the apple trees. The apple trees get ate by cows. The cows go to a bear, and the bear goes to a person.

Duane, the smart kid, put the sun goes to the maple trees. The caterpillar eats the maple trees. The caterpillars get ate by a robin. The robin goes to a bobcat, and the bobcat gets ate by a vulture.

Mr. Lengerman taught us science today. We learned about Energy Pyramids. Jake, my partner, and I had oak trees for the producer on the pyramid. Then we put that ants eat the leaves off the tree. The birds sometimes eat ants so we put down a blue jay eats ants. Then we thought about what might eat a blue jay, and then we said that a falcon might eat a blue jay so we put that down. Then we said bears eat falcons.

On the same sheet of paper we made a food chain. For the first spot we made a maple tree. On the second spot we put a caterpillar. Then we put a robin. For the last spots we put an eagle then a mountain lion.

An energy pyramid shows you how animals get energy. It can help you understand what animals eat. Some animals, herbivores, eat plants directly. Some animals eat plants indirectly, and those are called carnivores. Some animals are a combination of both. Those are called omnivores. I worked with Chris making the energy pyramid. Making the energy pyramid was fun. Ours started with a tree, and ended with a bobcat.

Energy Pyramid
Alan

Today we did a food chain or energy pyramid paper. My group was Ryan, Cam, Nolan, and I. We did both the energy pyramid and the food chain, but it was still really fun. At the top of the food chain was a bobcat. At top of the energy pyramid was a wolf.

At the bottom of both the food chain and the energy pyramid was trees or a tree. An energy pyramid is an amount of energy available at each level in the feeding order. A food web is a combination of all the food chains in the community.

Energy Pyramid
Malana

Today in our Science I had to work with Brooke Ann, a girl in my class, to make a drawing. We had to draw a line in the middle of the paper and on that side we had to draw a food chain and on the other we had to make an Energy Pyramid. I worked on the Energy Pyramid, and Brooke worked on the food chain

I did not want to draw because I can’t draw well but I liked working with Brooke because she is a lot of fun I also liked because it is good to practice in Science I learned what things eat what. It was a lot of fun, and I think I would like to do it again. I think Brooke liked working with me because we were laughing.

Food Chain
Brooke Taylor

Today Mr. Lengerman talked to us about a food chain. Maeve and I were doing a food chain of a horse and a tiger. We did the pyramid and a food chain the food chain was made for a horse and the pyramid was for the lion. It had sun, trees, monkeys, and others a lion would eat. Lions are meat eaters but the other animals they eat have plants in them. Horses eat plants so the food chain would go like this: sun, trees, apples, and grass. They eat nothing but plants and some kinds of fruits.

A pyramid is a different from a food chain. A food chain is used to find out how energy and nutrients pass from one organism to another in an ecosystem. An energy pyramid is an amount of energy available at each position or level. So there you have it and I hope you liked it I did.
