Science Seekers: Hidden in Rocks

Monday and Tuesday I learned how mountains formed. My favorite part was when we got to demonstrate how plates moved and what they do. I also like it when we did the Science Seekers on the computer.  ...Yumi

I learned that when land plates move side by side it's hard to move and they rip and pull against each other. ·Michael. S.

I also learned what causes a fault or a fold. ·Nathan

When two red foam pieces slide next to each other, it's called transform-fault. Also when two blue pieces are pulled away it's called divergent boundary. There were other things with other names too. ·Todd I learned what makes mountains, peaks deeper water, shallower water, and canyons. I learned all of this by experimenting with red foam and blue foam. The blue foam stood for water. The red foam is for land. We were demonstrating how the plates on the Earth move. ·Taylor
I learned that mountains, volcanoes, oceans, and canyons can all be made by the movement of plates. It was fun and it helped me understand. ·Logan
I learned that the plate movement can cause an earthquake or a volcano. I learned that there can even be underwater earthquakes and volcanoes. ·Zach

Investigation Day 2

On Tuesday we used foam squares for a project. We used them for five different things. We used blue foam which was water and red which was land. It gave us an idea how the plates move. This is what we did. ·Jeremy
On Tuesday I learned that the Earth's crustal plates can push toward each other, pull apart from each other, or they move on top of each other. I learned that I should keep writing when my partner says that we can stop·.Lexie

Investigation Day 2

Investigation Day 3

Yesterday I learned how mountains and hills are formed. I learned that by using blue foat to represent the ground under water and red foam to represent the coastal crust. I now understand how the plates move and form many different land forms around the world. I'm glad we did this project. ·Ashlie
