Our Illustration Scavenger Hunt

In June we took our notebooks and searched the water and woods of our area.

At The Spirit of the Woods Club we had our Illustration Scavenger Hunt. The items we had to find fit into our previous science, reading and social studies units.

We worked with Mrs. N.'s class. The First Graders in her class buddied up with the Second Graders. Next year, when they are in Second Grade, they will know more about nature.

We were finding animal tracks such as deer tracks, raccoon, turkey, and turtles.

Animal Sign included chewed grass, scat, and carcasses.

We were busy finding animal homes: porcupine home, chipmunk homes, man-made bird houses, and ant hills.

It was a beautiful day to spend in the woods, and it was an ideal culmination of our Science and Reading Units.
