Math

We have been counting and tallying objects such as books, boys and girls in our class, and who rides the bus, car or walks to and from school.

Our first science lesson was on germs and hand washing. We always wash our hands before we eat or after we go to the bathroom.

Social Skills/Studies

Our classroom rules are as follows:

  • Always do your best work
  • Be helpful
  • Be Safe
  • Use your manners
  • Follow directions
  • Use the "working whisper." (We use our working whisper when we are doing centers, or working at our desks. This way our class can be calm and we can all concentrate.)

Arts

Our stories, math lessons and writing lessons have traditional Mother Goose rhyming songs and finger plays. We have been creating some beautiful pictures in our books and along with our writings.

Language Arts

Mrs. Zajac and Mrs. Cook, our Title I teachers, have been testing each child individually on letter sounds and identification.

We have been reading stories like Moonbears Books, Annie, Bea, and Chi Chi Delores, Where the Wild Things Are, Miss Nelson is Missing, and classic fairy tales. Each child has made two books: one about colors and one about their favorite things.
