Mrs. Eichbergers
Volume 1 Issue 12 Language Our stories for this week were Something from Nothing - a family tale of love and ingenuity. Ask your child how a grandpa transformed his grandson’s blanket into a button! We also read Blackberry Mouse - a story about friendship and sharing. Students wrote about why it was important to share and whom they like to share with. A HARVEST MEAL A common food staple of the Native Americans was corn. We will be having a Harvest Meal on Wednesday, November 26. All parents are invited to join us for the Harvest Meal at 1:45. We will be preparing corn chowder that morning. If anyone would like to bring any of the following items please call me. We will also be needed plastic spoons, bowls, and napkins. If anyone is willing to make corn bread, that would be great! We will wear our Indian vests that we will be making on Friday. Please have your child bring in a large brown paper grocery bag. |
Fabric Scraps
On Monday I asked all students to bring in a fabric scrap from an old article of clothing that they had outgrown. We will be creating a “coat of many colors.” If your child has not brought in a scrap of fabric, please have them bring one in tomorrow. Math Thank you to all the parents who have been sending items in to our school store! This week we have been exploring visual pattern. We explored a “Postage Stamp” quilt pattern and created AB patterns (alternating), as well as patterns with different shapes. We have also been identifying the different attributes of shape. How many angles are in a triangle? How many angles in a square? How many sides in each shape. Many students were also introduced to the rhombus, hexagon, and parallelogram. ITEMS TO BRING TO SCHOOL
