Mrs. Eichberger's First Grade News
May 20, 2004
Language

This week’s story was One of Three.

Students wrote about their family and traditions in their families. Your child’s writing folder will be sent home within the next two weeks. Enclosed in their writing folders are work samples dating back from December to the immediate past.

Math

We have been reviewing fraction concepts as well as time and money. We identified fractions that were greater, less than or equal.

Science

Students were introduced to the three rock types, metamorphic, sedimentary, and igneous rocks. We have many of these types of rocks in our classroom. A great weekend activity is to walk along our beaches to find stones! Collecting rocks and stones is also a great summer hobby! We talked about the geological processes of how rocks were formed - great amounts of pressure, heat, and weathering are just some of the many ways rocks are formed.
