Language

Our stories this week were The Dream Quilt, and When the Root Children Wake Up. The root children awaken from their long winter’s nap to welcome spring. In The Dream Quilt, is about a boy who had bad dreams. His mother passes on to him her dream quilt filled with patterns of beautiful scenes of nature.

Students have been writing seasonal poetry as well as writing about their quilt squares. Our quilt is getting the finishing touches from parent, Susan Barnard.

Math

We have been practicing addition and subtraction facts using a variety of ways, from BINGO to a game called “Race You” to fact triangles.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Conferences take place on April 13 from 6:30 to 9:00 PM. We have been preparing work to our parents. This quarter’s conference will be lead by the student.

IOWA Tests

Please read carefully the attached letter from our Principal, Kevin Hughes, regarding the IOWA standardized tests.

Arts

We have been singing songs about spring! Here are the lyrics to the song;

Root Children Sleep

Root Children sleep deep under the ground.

And while you sleep the world will turn

Around.

Then once again Young Robin will sing.

“Old Winter has passed. Wake up! I

It is Spring!”

We have also been painting our favorite scenes from our favorite Dr. Seuss books. They will be displayed in the hall and library when we vote for our favorite Seuss book tomorrow.

I hope you enjoy this next week off with your family. The weather looks as though it’ll be glorious. I’ll be siding our new home with my husband, James. See you in April.
