Report Cards and Narratives

Your child will be bringing home their second quarter reports today. They are enclosed in an envelope. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at school.

Important Reminders!!!

Many students still need to bring in a fabric scrap with a memory. We will be making a family heritage quilt. Please have your child bring in their fabric scrap if they have not done so already.

Also, we need cardboard paper towel tubes. We will be making number scrolls next week.

Good Behavior Ski Day forms are to be sent back to school ASAP.

Language

Our story for the week was The Itsy Bitsy Spider. We discussed cause and effect. A cause tells why something happened. Students recalled the events in the story and listed them in a flip book. We also read The Lonely Prince, a story about a prince who could have anything in the world, but all he wanted was a friend.

Math

This week we used a tape measure to measure curved and flat objects in inches. Students worked in partners and measured the circumferences of each others wrists, elbows, and heads. We also made a bar graph of each student’s height. For our quilting unit, students manipulated colored rubber bands on a pegboard to create shapes and patterns.

“It’s Mine!”

We are rehearsing for our play in the afternoons. Its looks as though we will be ready to perform for parents the week of February 9. I will let you know the specific time and date in next week’s newsletter.
