Ways to say, No: Jan. 22

DARE Bowling
Katie

At D.A.R.E. bowling I had a lot of fun. I made one strike and was really close on a few. I also made a lot of gutter balls. I had a piece of pizza and a glass of water. I also won a free water bottle. I was bowling in the same lane as Sherece. I had a lot of fun with her. I didn't win any big prizes even though I was in the hundred-dollar club.

In D.A.R.E. I learned all kinds of pressure. The four kinds of pressure are peer pressure, family pressure, personal pressure, and media pressure. There are also four kinds of peer pressure too. They are heavy per pressure, teasing peer pressure, friendly peer pressure, and indirect peer pressure. One week we rated our stress level. I answered seven yes and eight no. Stress is any strain, pressure, or excitement about situations or events. That's some of the things that I learned in D.A.R.E.

Every Wednesday we have a program called D.A.R.E. In D.A.R.E we learn about the different kinds of drugs and how they are bad for you. We also learn each week about different ways that people will convince you to take drugs. Like by peer pressure, media, violence, and stressors. Those are the ways people can convince you to take drugs.

I like a lot of things about the D.A.R.E program. One thing is when we play games and watch movies. I also like it because we get to skip school to do something interesting. Finally I like it because I might use its information when I’m older. I really like D.A.R.E and I hope I can do it next year.

In DARE we went bowling at strike town in Manistee. I didn’t get a very high score because I was messing around. I got a score of sixty-four. I bowled with Alex. They gave out free pizza and pop, and you could have as much as you wanted.

They were raffling of prizes, and I won a hat that says DARE on the front. But that’s all I won. Alex won a hat too, but his was different. At the end of the day while Alex and me were waiting for our parents to pick us up we played foosball. I beat him three to one.

I had fun in D.A.R.E. I learned a lot. One thing I learned was about D.A.R.E word list. In the list there were ten words. Also I learned about Four Major Sources of pressure, and four kinds of peer pressure. We learned a lot more.

Something else was why kids don’t do drugs. Plus why they do drugs. Another thing we did was read about kids in situations of were they can get hurt and in trouble. Like for example a boy named Frank plays tennis and the coach finds him in the locker room, and he got in trouble by being band form the team.

That’s not all. In our book we also learned about ways to say no. Officer Tory also taught us about why kids don’t do drugs. On page twenty-one is a checklist. There are lots more but these were some examples. D.A.R.E is a lot of fun.

Bowling for Dare

Saturday we went bowling for the Bowl On -a-Thon. When we got there we were put into lanes. My lane number was 3. The Bowl-a-Thon was held @ Striketown. I didn’t get any strikes but I got two spares.

We had to raise money too and we got prizes for how much we made. We had to get five dollars or more to go. Some of the prizes were boom boxes, x boxes and things like walkie-talkies and stuff. There was a first second and third place prize too. First place was a lap top, second place was a TV DVD and VCR all in one. And third place I think was a stereo.

Dare Bowling

Saturday was the Dare Bowl-a-thon. When we arrived at the bowling alley we had to get our shoes and get assigned to a lane. Within a few minuets we got to bowl. Then they made a whole bunch of pizza and got a lot of pop.

We bowled for about an hour when they told us to bowl between our legs. Then they told us to bowl with our left hand. When we finished doing those weird things we got to bowl again. Pretty soon they called our names and we got to pick out a prize and get the stuff we earned. We bowled for about 40 more minuets then they told us who won the big prizes. Nobody won anything from our school but it was still fun to watch. After that we left. I had a great time at Dare bowling.
