Red Ribbon Week
by Kailani

This week is Red Ribbon Week. Every day we do activities. We even wear certain clothes.

On Monday we wore red, white, and blue. We also decorated our door. We decorated our door to be about drugs. Our title was Don’t Let Drugs Haunt You. We made our door a haunted house. We aren’t done though. I think we still have some ghosts to add. My class even collected things for the soldiers in Afghanistan. I brought in a book, greeting cards, a bandy bar, some dental floss, and soap. Not many people in our class bought something for them.

On Tuesday we wore hats to school. We paid 25cents to wear a hat. It’s a good thing I wasn’t penniless. The money will help buy school stuff for kids in Afghanistan. Also a lady from something called Listen America came and played Jeopardy with us. We were in groups and my group was Jake, Haley, Sherece, Kevin, Elizabeth, and Thomas. The way you played was one group would pick the category. The categories are Common Drugs, Onekama Trivia, Installment Plan, MJ Scrambled, and Mr. A. Then they picked either 100, 200, 300, 400, or 500. Then we would answer or unscramble the answers to the questions. The prizes were 1st place a Rams T-shirt, 2nd a Lions hat, and 3rd a pizza certificate. My group got 4 wrong and came in 5th. Crystal’s group came in 1st. I forgot who came in 2nd & 3rd.

On Wednesday we wore our favorite team shirt. I wore my basketball shirt. We also made monsters with Mrs. Bromley’s class. We had to carefully watch the little kids to make sure they didn’t hurt themselves. I am hopeful that ours will win a prize. Our monster’s theme was Spongebob because its name was Bob the monster. I was the one who wrote the name. It was the name mainly everyone wanted.

Now on Thursday we are going to wear our pajamas to school. On Friday we are going to wear red. I like Red Ribbon Week. I think it’s a lot of fun.

(Note: the FCA's for this paper on Red Ribbon week called for using and underlining six spelling words.)
