Freedom Sing

January 2003

The entire Onekama Elementary, along with family and friends, joined to sing Songs of Freedom which included, Oh Freedom, This Land is Your Land, Blowin' in the Wind and If I had a Hammer.

Megan read, "When we celebrate Martin Luther King Day every January, we celebrate the life of the great civil rights leader who believed that all Americans are equal, regardless of race, color, or creed."

Let Freedom Ring!

My country tis of thee, sweet land of liberty.
Land where my fathers died, land of the Pilgrim's pride,
From every mountainside, let freedom ring!

And if America is to be a great nation, this must be true.
So let freedom ring from the hilltops of New Hampshire!
Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of NewYork!
Let freedom ring from the hightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania!
Let freedom ring from the snowcapped Rockies of Colorado!
Let freedom ring from the curvaceous peaks of California!
Not only that; let freedom ring from Stone Mountain Georgia!
Let freedom ring from the Lookout Mountain of Tennessee!
Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi!
From every mountainside, let freedom ring!

Martin Luther King
1963
