On Friday, we went to a performance in the Onekama Park called Harmony in the Park. The middle school played their instruments. Also, Indians danced. They picked me to dance the boy’s traditional dance with them. He gave me an arrowhead but I dropped it and it broke.

After the performance, we played on the swings and played hacky sack. I really liked the Harmony in the Park. I’m glad we went to it.

Last week we went to the Onekama park to listen to Onekama students play there instruments and the O.H.S. choir. There were also some Native Americans that came and danced for us. Then we just went and played around at the playground in the park. I was swinging most of the time but I did other things too.

Throughout the afternoon, Reg Pettibone’s Native American Dance and Cultural Program, educated and entertained the crowd. Mr. Pettibone, an experienced champion dancer, and his family represent the Ho-Chunk Nation and the Paiute Nation. Their dancing and singing sets were followed with Native American cultural discussions and detailed explanations of dance movement significance.
