How I Helped at the Recycling Trailer
by Anna

At the recycling trailer I made building blocks. Building blocks are paper layed flat in a bag like a building block. I also helped break down boxes. When they were broken down we put them in the back of the trailer and flattened them down. Then we went and picked up more recycling from places like The Bklue Slipper, Shakers, and the Hardware Store. Once at the Hardware Store we got lots and lots of recycling becuase other people didn't pick it up. That was hard work. I also helped unload the paper from other people's cars. I think my favorite part is going up on top and flattening the cardboard. It's fun!

Mrs. Rosen, along with Derek and Andrew , began picking up from stores so our "pile" on the asphalt grew and grew.

I got a few bags of paper and put them in the trailor. Then I took some cardboard and put it in. Plus I took loose paper and put it in boxes and took the boxes in too. It was hot outside but I did it! I did it all without needing to stop and get a drink. It ws pretty good exercise that day. Some stuff was garbage we had to throw out. Peweew! ...by Gabe

Badger Trip: Money earned recycling pays for part of our Badger Trip. Check the teams for August 11th, 18th & 25th.

August 4: We had a great team! Tim and Chad , under Miss Bishop's guidance, climbed to the very top and rearranged cardboard. Check the August 11th & 18th teams.

How I Recycled
by Chad

I think you should recycle because it keeps the earth clean and if you recycle the supplies you recycle get made into new things. If you recycle you get rid of the stuff around your house. When I was in the recycle trailer I got to flatten boxes and to do that you have to stomp on them and rip them and you have to tough. I also got to climb on all the cardboard and straighten it and got to put a whole bunch of papers in bags and stack them to save room.

Check the August 11th team.

We need workers for every Saturday in September. Please volunteer. We need everyone. Call Mrs. Eldridge at 889-5524 or e-mail beldridg@manistee.org
