Dia del Muerte
(Day of the Dead)

We learned about this Hispanic Holiday and compared it to Halloween.

Dear Ms. Chris and Mr. Chavez,
Thank you for the bread. I remember people think the spirits came up to visit. It was really fun making the bread. I learned a lot. I'm glad we did that with you.
Love,
Nathalie & Chance

Dear Ms. Chris and Mr. Chavez,
Thank you for working so hard to make Dia del Muerte so special to us. I remember that they make a skeletons head out of candy and put the persons name on the skeletons head. When are you going to do stuff with us? They put out the persons favorite food out. They put no spice on the kids favorite food in Mexico not a bit.

Dear Ms. Chris and Mr. Chavez,
Thank you for teaching us about Day of the Dead. I learned that we use red on the food because it is close to blood. You can put petals down on the ground for the dead. You can put flowers and food in the grave yard. Somebody might eat them.
From,
Alicia

We learned about this Hispanic Holiday and compared it to Halloween. It was an interesting activity for the second graders.
Of course, the best part was eating the bread.
