Fungus: One of the Five Kingdoms

 

For this experiment, Amber and I took a banana, a peach and bread and put them in a bag after we touched them with our wet hands. We wanted to see if fungus would grow better in the dark or light. We put ours in the sun on the window sill. I didn't look at the other people's project because it was too nasty, so I don't know if it grew better in dark or in light. ...Clyve

 

The fungus was very smelly and it looked gross. It got very moldy because we put it in a ziploc bag. To grow the fungus Ryan F and I put our fungus under Mr. Finan's sink so it could grow sort of in the dark. It grows best in the dark. It doesn't grow so good in the sunlight. ...Ashlee

 

I put a bunch of different foods on a plate and then I put it in a bag and showed Mrs. Eldridge. Then we went back to Mr. Finan's room. I put mine by the window and other kids put theirs in the fridge, closet and under the sink. Then about a week later we went and got them. I had quite a lot of fungus on mine. We took two pieces of fruit and one piece of bread. Then we got our hands wet just a little and touched the fruit. We set it on a paper plate. Next we put it in a plastic bag and set it in the windowsill. We kept on checking for any new things that happened. It began to grow fungus. It looked fuzzy and green and black, and some fuzzy white.
