Here we are climbing the stairs on the way to band. We have band twice a week from 8:05 until 8:45.

I like band. It is fun. I wanted to play the flute because my cousin Amy plays it. The flute is easy to put together, but it is a little hard to play. When we play the flute, it sounds pretty. Four people in my class play the flute. ...Artisha

I think band is fun! First I get my chair, then I get my stand. Then I put my instrument together. After that I wait until Miss Schwarz tells us to play. I play the clarinet. It is so much fun but sometimes hard! When I play I have to tap my toe and sit at the end of my chair. When I play my lips have to be wet.
I can't wait until I am in a concert. It is going to be so much fun! My sister plays in concerts she said it is fun and exciting. That is why band is so fun and exciting. ....Mara

This is a picture of me playing the saxophone. It is a pretty good instrument and it is kind of fun, but I don't like it when we play the same thing over and over again because it gets kind of boring. But it is kind of fun when we do the iron man / woman. It is when we see who can exhale the longest out of their instrument and be making a noise. It was hard to learn the three notes because there were notes for the whole band and there were notes for just the saxophones that were the same sound but different notes. I still don't have them that good. .... Andy

I think that it's good that we have band this year so when we get older and have a choice of having band we know if we want to play in band. I like band instead of singing and having recorders. I also think that band is fun because I like having an instrument and knowing how to play an instrument. I play the clarinet. I thought it was going to be easy because they look a lot like the recorder. but it is not as easy as I thought.
Our band teacher is Ms. Schwarz. She's really good at being a band teacher. I hope she's the band teacher until I get out of school, but that probably won't happen. I think band is fun. I can't wait until the Christmas concert thing comes up. I think it will be fun. The notes we learned so afar are concert B flat, C, and D. ...Sara

When we go to band we do a lot of stuff. Here are the steps. 1st We get our chairs and stands. The chairs are heavy, but not real heavy. 2nd We put our instruments together. It's like putting together a big puzzle. 3rd We get to work. We so far learned the b flat c d e notes. There are a lot more though than that. We have learned not even close to half. We learned Mary had a Little Lamb. We did not do very well, but it was our first time so we did OK I guess. ... Sella

I like music. It is a lot of fun. I play a clarinet. It is the most complicated instrument to put together in the class. You can see me putting it together. My teacher is Miss Schwarz. She is very nice. I can play two songs that I taught myself--Mary had a little Lamb and Hot Cross Buns. I had a test on three notes B, C, D, and I got a perfect ten. That is the best you can get. We are learning new notes so we can learn to play songs in the music book. The thing I have in my mouth is a reed. A reed is made of bamboo. Without it you could not play. Even if I got it chipped, I could not play very well. ...Julie

Mrs. Van helps Julie. Julie is learning to play the drums. Mrs. Van is learning too. They both really like it.

In this picture I, Nathan, am practicing my first three notes, concert B flat, C, and D. How to play them on a trumpet is on a B flat you hold down key 1 and key 2. The C is Key 1 and Key 3. the D is no key.
I think band is really fun and I am going to play in it for all of Middle School, High School, and Collage. I hope other people think that way, and I know there are some people that do. ... Nathan
